Wexford Farmers Co-op 40 x 20 Championships Semi Finals
Gavin Buggy and Paul Lambert qualified for the final of the Senior Doubles last week when they showed their class to beat Castlebridge duo Jason and Cory Murphy on a 21-8, 21-11 score line.
The intermediate doubles quarter final last week saw a win for Horeswood duo Barry and Fergal McWilliams as they had too much in the tank for Pechelli English and Mick Armstrong from Davidstown, winning 21-14, 21-9.
Both junior B doubles semi finals were played in the past week as Kevin Doyle and Dom Stafford from Davidstown won their game against Robert Byrne and PJ martin from Bridgetown on a 21-15, 21-18 result while the second semi final was won by Ballymitty duo Shane Rossiter and JR Finn as they won 21-8, 21-5 against Johnny Murphy and James Nolan from Kilmyshall.
Oulart and Horeswood will contest the final of the Junior D doubles after their representatives did the business during the past week. Pat O’Connor and Peter Sutton marched forward with a 21-12, 21-16 win over Tom Byrne and Jimmy Dunne from Kilmyshall. Tom Cummins and Richie Ryan from Horeswood were also winners as they defeated Timmy Farrell and Tom Murphy from Kilmyshall in a pulsating game that had a 18-21, 21-8, 21-10 winning score line.
Shane Rossiter and Phil Coleman from Ballymitty advanced to the final of the Masters B doubles as they defeated Davidstown pairing of Dom Stafford and Tom O’Shea on a 21-11, 21-9 score, mean while in the golden masters b singles Jimmy Dunne from Kilmyshall defeated Brendan Murphy from Castlebridge 21-9, 21-14.
Declan Harte and Gareth Somers from Horeswood delivered a final berth as they won a titanic semi final in the Golden Masters A doubles as they got the better of Donal Doyle and Nicky Curran from St Martin’s on a 13-21, 21-20, 21-11 score.
Men’s beginners Singles results
Tommy Haughton (St Joseph’s) beat Martin Crowley (St Joseph’s) 21-18, 21-15
Jimmy Stanners (St Martin’s) beat Noel Butler (St Joseph’s) 21-11, 21-18
The semi finals of the women singles took place last week also and it sees Holly Hynes and Marguerite Gore from St Mary’s both through to the final. Holly Hynes had an unbelievable semi final against Chloe Cashe from St Joseph’s. The game swung one way then the next as Hynes eventually came through 20-21, 21-11, 21-15. Marguerite Gore won her semi final also in another three set battle this time it was Amanda Kelly (Templeudigan) who lost out on a 21-8, 17-21, 21-4.
