Leinster Juvenile Handball Finals
Last weekend St Joseph’s handball club in Wexford town was a hive of activity as the Leinster Juvenile handball finals for Girls and Boys took place in the three court complex in Bishopswater. IN a fantastic afternoon for the model county five Leinster titles were captured by the home boys and girls.
Wexford took three titles in the girls grades winning the under 13 singles, under 13 doubles and under 14 singles in fine style. Cora Doyle was a two game to one winner over Dearbhail O’Keefe from Kilkenny in the under 13 singles final, Emma Sweeny and Eva Crean completed an under 13 clean sweep for Wexford with a two nil win over Kildare pairing of Niamh Spence and Ciara Harrington.
Holly Hynes a real star in the making continued to show her fine skills and she took the under 14 singles in style defeating Emily McGuigan from Laois 2-0.
Unlucky to lose out last weekend in girls championships were Cliodhna O’Connell (Under 12 singles), Cora Doyle & Ciara O’Connor (Under 12 doubles), Tara Doyle and Emma Codd (under 14 doubles) from Wexford.
IN the boys Leinster final there was two wins for the home county .Glen Murphy lead the charge for titles with a 2-1 win over Jack Holden from Kilkenny in the final of the under 12 singles. Wexford’s other win in the boys finals came through the hands of Thomas Hall who was a 2-1 winner over Kildare player Kevin Diggins.
Unlucky to lose out for the boys of Wexford were Ciaran Power (under 13 singles), Michael Curran & Ben Barnes (under 13 doubles), Patrick Boland & Anthony Butler (under 14 doubles), Dylan Bolger & Daniel Kavanagh (under 16 doubles), James Kelly (under 17 singles), Nicky Lawlor & Liam Shannon (under 17 doubles)
