Inter county 40 x 20 season come to a disappointing end for the Model County.
It was not to be for Wexford last weekend as two All Ireland Handball finals recorded two defeats for different ends of the age spectrum of talented Wexford handballers.
In the more experienced end of the scale Ned Buggy and Gareth Somers lost out in the final of the Diamond Masters A doubles last weekend as they went down in a very good contest to Cavan pairing Dom Sheridan and Patsy Hand on a 21-16, 21-17 score line. It has been a very good season for Ned Buggy (St Joseph’s) and Gareth Somers (Horeswood) but they were just not able to record the final win for all their hard work.
Up and coming talented stars of Wexford handball in the shape of the under 12/13 team of six , lost out at the same stage last Sunday afternoon in Roscommon going down in the final to a very strong Tipperary side on a 76-56 score line. IN the semi final the Wexford team had beaten Galway on an 88-26 score line. The Wexford team that represented the county with pride over the last two weekends was Glen Murphy, Todd Hynes ,Cian Kehoe, Ciara Power, Colm Parnell and Richard Browne.
