South East Radio and County Wexford GAA are hosting a Monster Quiz night on Thursday February 21st
With your help, we plan to smash the Guinness book of records for a quiz held with the most participants, in the most venues, on one night!
All are welcome and for this one, definitely the more the merrier!
Guinness Book of Records
The current Guinness Book of Record stands at 2,679 participants at 39 venues in the UK. With your help, this is our record to beat and have some fun at the same time!
How it all works
- GAA Clubs across County Wexford will host quiz nights in their areas on Thursday 21st February. You can select a venue that has been chosen by your Club or simply choose a venue that suits you and your team.
- The quiz is a general knowledge quiz so there will be something for everyone.
- It comprises of 8 rounds of 10 questions per round.
- To help us have an idea of how people are coming along on the night we would ask you to complete the registration form below. Dont worry if you aren’t able to register on line, all are welcome on the night just come along a few minutes earlier.
- Registration and payment takes place from 8.15pm at each venue.
- To enter, each team must pay €40 on the quiz night. Up to 4 members per team.
- The quiz starts at 9.00pm sharp.
- Quiz answer booklets will be sold in advance. Please ensure to bring the booklets with you on the night.
- The quiz questions will be broadcast live on South East Radio into each venue so everyone hears the same questions at the same time.
- At the end of each round the venue manager will collect the answer sheet from each team – the sheet will be signed by the team captain.
- The venue scrutineers will check each answer against the answers broadcast by South East Radio.
- A league table will highlight the scores for each team at each venue.
- A final for the winning team at each venue will take place on Thursday 7th March at the Ferrycarrig Hotel at 8.30pm
- In the event of a tie-breaker, either to select the overall winning team from each venue or to decide other placings the following rules will apply:
- The tie-breaker will be managed by the venue manager at each venue and will not be broadcast on South East Radio.
- Each venue will have a sealed envelope with a series of tie-breaker questions and answers. The tie-breaker will be a sudden death format where participating teams will write their answers and the team with the incorrect answer gets knocked out until one team is left and will be declared the winner.
- Prizes are as follows:
- 1st Prize: €1,000 for winning team plus a set of jerseys for their nominated GAA club.
- 2nd Prize: €500 for winning team plus 4 Gold Season Tickets to Wexford Park (all Fixtures) for their nominated GAA club.
- 3rd Prize: €250 for winning team plus 4 All Ireland Tickets for their nominated GAA club.
- No cash in lieu of non cash prizes
Terms & Conditions
- All participants must be over 18 years old. Proof of identity may be required.
- Up to 4 persons per team.
- The quiz will start at 9pm sharp. Late arrivals will not be facilitated on the night.
- Each team must select a team captain to co-ordinate the team.
- Quiz booklets are only issued on receipt of full payment.
- Access to mobile phones, smart phones or android devices or any other computer or communications device or radio or walkie talkie is strictly prohibited on the night. Any table found to be in breach of this rule will be eliminated from the quiz.
- Team members must remain seated for each round of questions.
- No non team members are allowed to be seated at the table or in close proximity to the teams.
- No consultation other than with team members is allowed during the quiz including venue organising staff.
- Decision of the venue management is final
- The winning team in each venue will go through to a final to take place
on Thursday 7th March at 8.30 pm at the Ferrycarrig Hotel. - In the event of a tie breaker, either to select the overall winning team

- The decision of the Quiz Master is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Fire, health & Safety are the responsibility of the hosting venue.
- Venues must have FM connectivity and radio reception
- Venues must have a PA so that everyone can hear the questions being broadcast.
- Venues must have a phone line or mobile phone coverage.
- Venues must have a Venue Manager, Score keeper and organising team.
- South East Radio reserves the right to use all recorded or live material involved in the On Air Competition on air or in press. The winner may also be required by South East Radio to participate in a photo shoot. South East Radio has the right to use such publicity photos in any medium (including, without limitation, the internet) and in any reasonable manner it sees fit.
- No cash in lieu of non cash prizes
