At a meeting of Coiste Banistí Loch Garman on 14th November (Of this week) , it was agreed to propose Paul Carty as manager of the Minor football team for 2018. James Sheil was proposed as the manager of the Minor hurling team. These appointments will be put forward for ratification at the November County Board meeting.
The minor hurling backroom team will be comprised of John Conran (Rathnure), Eddie Cullen (Ferns) and Liam Roche (Geraldine O Hanrahans). The minor football backroom team, Under 20 football, Under 21 hurling management and Talent Academy mentors will be confirmed at the November County Board meeting.
Coiste Bainistí have also agreed to appoint Paul Carty as an Athletic Development Coodinator, on a voluntary basis, to assist our Games Development Staff in ensuring a streamlined approach to strength and conditioning and athletic development from Under 14 to Under 21. Paul holds a 1st class master’s degree in Sports Performance from the University of Limerick. The course is designed to ensure graduates are competent sports performance practitioners with working knowledge and skills in areas such as strength and conditioning (accredited), Sports psychology and nutrition for elite performance, optimising player development and progression, video analysis, laboratory performance testing. Understanding differences in training for team / strength sports and individual sports alike. Paul completed a BSc (hons) degree in Human Physiology and Rehabilitation in Carlow IT, which will be instrumental in keeping players fit and well and ensuring that injured players are placed on a correct rehabilitation programme for a successful return to sport.
