Coaching and Games
Three additional GPOs have been employed in recent weeks and the criteria and expectations for clubs has been circulated to participating clubs. This is in line with the targets set out in the 2021-2025 strategic plan.
Football Review Group
Micheál Martin, Cathaoirleach CLG Loch Garman, outlined his concerns regarding the current standard of underage football in the county. He announced that he intended to establish a group to complete a root and branch review covering grassroots, club, school, development squads up to inter-county U17. He outlined that it has become a significant challenge to recruit the required personnel to assist with development squads in football and that a number of clubs who would traditionally prioritise football no longer do so. Micheál set out that he has approached a person of the highest calibre to lead the review.
Ukraine Community Response Forum
Micheál Martin outlined that he had attended a meeting of the Community Response Group with Wexford County Council along with Michael Hennessy Cullen, Runaí CLG Loch Garman. A significant challenge exists in relation to providing emergency accommodation for refugees. Clubs were encouraged to provide accommodation where possible and Micheál outlined that he had offered the facilities in Chadwicks Wexford Park from early May to July.
Identification of An Bainisteoir
As set out in the Competition Regulations 2022, the Bainisteoir must wear a distinctive bib or top. This regulation applies for all games – league, championship and underage. The Bainisteoir shares the responsibility of ensuring the Games Regulations are respected by players and members of team management with the Club Chairperson, Secretary or Nominated Person. The purpose of this rule is to make it easier for a referee to identify whom to speak with should a need arise.
Penalties for breach of this regulation shall be at the discretion of the CCC. Penalties may include warnings, fines, the withdrawal of side-line privileges or suspension of individuals as considered appropriate. Referees have been requested to report instances of non-compliance.
