Bulletin following Management Committee Meeting on 2 March 2022.
Upcoming Games
After two great results for our Senior Hurlers and Senior Footballers on Sunday last, our Senior Hurlers play Offaly in the Allianz Hurling League on Saturday, 5 March 2022 at 2pm in Chadwicks Wexford Park and our Senior Footballers face Tipperary in their rearranged game in the Allianz Football League on Sunday, 6 March 2022 at 2pm also in Chadwicks Wexford Park.
It was pointed out that it will be very challenging to host intercounty double headers in Chadwicks Wexford Park until after the upgrade works are completed, as the dressing rooms are not adequate to accommodate an intercounty team and their associated backroom in a single dressing room.
Infrastructure Projects
Halo Tiles Wexford GAA Centre of Excellence
Plans are in the last phase of finalisation prior to re-submission for planning permission at Halo Tiles COE. It is expected to advertise the planning permission in the coming 2-3 weeks with the planning application to be submitted the following week.
Chadwicks Wexford Park
The upgrade to Chadwicks Wexford Park has been split into three distinct elements with separate subcommittees overseeing each element:
Pitch Works: The tender documents are near final in respect of the irrigation system and associated works. The tender process will commence shortly in order for a contractor to be in place to start work on the pitch at the start of May 2022.
Lighting: The design phase for the concourse lighting and the preparation of tender documents for the same and for the floodlights is in progress.
Building Works: The procurement of an architect for the design phase of the dressing room extension and press box and wheelchair area upgrade has commenced.
Unofficial Wexford Hurling Wall Planner
An unofficial “Wexford Hurling 2022” wall planner was circulated to schools by a third-party company. We previously requested this company to not use images of Wexford GAA to seek advertisements, and while they have removed the Wexford GAA Crest, the unofficial calendars were still circulated with a photograph of the Wexford Senior Hurling Team. The Rackard League Committee have written to every school requesting that the calendars are not given out to children and advising that the funds from the production of this wall planner are not used for promoting our games.
We are aware that this company is once again approaching Wexford based businesses and individuals for advertisements in another unofficial Wexford GAA calendar. Please be aware if you are approached that Wexford GAA have no association with this company and none of the funds raised from the sale of the advertisements go to Wexford GAA.
Senior Hurlers Open Training Session
The Senior Hurlers will hold an open training session on Friday, 18 March 2022. Players will be available on the day for photographs, autographs, etc. Further details will be released in the coming weeks.
Penalty on Clubs without an Active Referee
Clubs without an active referee will lose home advantage for the first game of every team from Under 13 to Adult and pay an additional €200 to the referee training fund. Coiste Bainistí agreed to apply this rule as follows:
- CCC will set fixtures as normal as if there was no penalty to be applied.
- A club without an active referee will lose home advantage for their first home game according to the fixture plan.
- This penalty cannot be applied to a fixture between two clubs who do not have an active referee. In such a case, the penalty will be applied to the next home game against a club who does have an active referee.
- If a club has lost home advantage as a result of this rule, they are still responsible for payment to the referee as if they were home team in such games where it is the responsibility of the home team to pay the referee.
Coiste Bainistí also discussed a situation where one club in an independent team does not have an active referee. It was agreed that in such a situation, the independent team would lose home advantage in one code, to be determined by the CCC by drawing lots.
Referee Fees
Coiste Bainistí approved the request from the Referees Administration Committee to increase the referee’s fee for Adult All-County League games from €40 to €50.
