U15 Football Development Wexford V Wicklow Report & Upcoming Events
Our U15 Football team had their first outing of the year last Saturday in Gorey against Wicklow. It was a very entertaining and exciting encounter with both teams trying to get off to a good start. The opening 20 minutes was a lively encounter with wexford outscoring wicklow by 2-03 to 1-02. The middle 20 was tightly contested on a score line of 2-02 each. The final 20 mins saw wexford score some super points as our confidence grew with 0-08 to wicklows 2-04. The final result was a two point win for wexford on a score line of 4-13( 25 pts) to 5-08(23 pts). Both camps can take positives from this game. From a wexford perspective their support play, passing and positioning were excellent at times and a bond is starting to develop at this early stage of the year for this young team.
The experienced wexford management team of Noel Kinsella (Monageer/Boolavogue), Padraig Lacey( Cushinstown), Shane Dunphy(Adamstown), Danny Dixon( Castletown) and Frank Devereux (Ferns) are eager not to praise individual performances at this early stage of player development and instead focus on team development. Wexford are eager to play the top development counties in order to develop our players at the highest level.Wexford will have another team out against cork in early april and a final squad of 2 panels will be selected at that stage.
