Scór A.G.M.
The Annual General Meeting of Scór Loch Garman was held on Monday 10th October in the GAA Office in Innovate Wexford Park. All clubs were invited to send representatives. At this meeting, Scór activities of 2015 were reported on and reviewed, the dates and venues for some of this year’s Scór were decided, the latest edition of the Scór Rule Book was distributed to delegates and Scór officers and committee were elected.

Wexford GAA’s Oifigeach Gaeilge & Cultúr, Breda Jacob oversaw the election of officers.
Áine Kennedy (St. James’) was elected Chairperson, to succeed her sister Aileen who in turn was appointed PRO.
Karen Mernagh (Bannow-Ballymitty) is the new Secretary of Scór while
Sean Ormonde (Naomh Bríd, Blackwater) continues as Treasurer. Susan Clancy (Sarsfields/ Faythe Harriers) was appointed as Development Officer.

What is Scór?
Scór is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social/fun element of Ireland’s traditional past-times. Scór was established in 1969 with the aim of promoting our traditional past-times and culture while offering club members the chance to meet up, have fun and represent their club during the winter months when Hurling, Football, Handball, Rounders, Camogie and Ladies Football had ceased.

The following are the 8 events/disciplines in Scór:
1. Rinnce Fóirne (Figure Dancing).
2. Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing).
3. Aithriseoireacht/Scéalaíocht (Recitation/Story-telling).
4. Ceol Úirlise (Instrumental Music).
5. Léiriú Stáitse (Stage Presentation).
6. Bailéad Grúpa (Ballad Group).
7. Rinnce Seit (Set Dancing)
8. Tráth na gCeisteanna Boird (Table Quiz).

Scór is divided into two age levels, Scór na nÓg for people under 17 years on 1st January 2017 and Scór Sinsir for those over 17 years of age on 1st January 2017. Each county is obliged to organise Scór as directed by Congress.
Scór Sinsir (Adult Scór): The Wexford Co. Final will be held in the New Year. Clubs will be notified when the details are finalised.
Scór na nÓg—Dates for your Diary
Semi-Final No. 1: Friday 11th November (South), catering for clubs from Wexford & New Ross Districts. Venue : St. Martin’s Semi-Final No. 2: Saturday 12th November (North), catering for clubs from the Enniscorthy & Gorey Districts. Venue: Oulart Scór na nÓg Co. Final: Saturday 19th November, in Clonroche.
Winning clubs will advance to the Leinster semi-final to be held on Sunday 4th December. The Leinster Final will be held on 7th January and the All-Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg will take place in Belfast on 11th February 2017.
The Scór na nÓg Table Quiz will be held on a night separate from the Stage Competitions. Clubs will be notified of details in good time. County winners of the Table Quiz advance directly to the All-Ireland Final.
Scór competitors must be registered members of their club (hurling, football, handball, rounders, camogie or ladies football). Competitors may only compete for one club, their own club. Full-time professional performers are not eligible to take part in competitions relative to their profession.
People whose livelihood is the teaching of music, dancing or elocution are not allowed to participate in competitions in which they specialise. A club need only enter one group or competitor in any of the specific Scór events.
Clubs, particularly their Irish Officers, are encouraged to promote Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir and to attend the various competitions. Begin rehearsing and have fun.
