All five of Wexford’s Model Academy Hurling Squads were in action in Cross Provincial blitzes this Saturday 18th July.
The Under 14 squads were in Waterford with the A squad beating the hosts but losing out to Tipperary in 2 very even and keenly contested games. The B squad unfortunately lost out in both games against Waterford B and Tipperary B. The 2 Wexford teams will have a lot of positives to take going forward in preparation for the Tony Forristal and Sonny Walsh tournament on the 29th of August.
The Under 15 South and North squads made a long trip to Portmarnock in Dublin for their blitz. The South squad were in a group of 3 with Dublin and Waterford beating the hosts and losing to Waterford. The North squad had 3 tough games losing to Waterford but beating Dublin and Antrim. Both under 15 squads will be in action in the Wexford hosted Michael Foley Leinster tournament on the 29th of August.
The Under 16s were at home in a windy Ferns centre of excellence where they took on Waterford, Tipperary and Laois. Wexford’s shooting let them down a little in the first game where Waterford piped them by 2 points but this was rectified in the second game against Tipperary where Wexford ran out convincing winners putting 3 goals past Tipp in the process. Their last game against an impressive Laois team ended in a draw. The Under 16s will play in the Arrabawn All Ireland tournament in Tipperary on August 29th.
