After the last minute drama of the win over Offaly, supporters are looking forward to Sunday’s big game against Limerick. Limerick who are under the stewardship of former Cork boss, John Allen, come to Wexford Park on the back of first round hammering by Davy FitGerald’s Clare and a good win over Laois last weekend and so, like Wexford sit on two league points. Doubts persist over the availability, due to injury, of their impressive young guns Declan Hannon Kevin Downes, their absence would be a boost to Wexford.
Liam Dunne has made seven changes to his side from the one that started against Offaly. Niall Breen gets his chance to impress in goal where he replaces Énna Martin. Fern’s James Tonks, an effective substitute last week, replaces Bobby Kenny at corner back. Captain Keith Rossiter starts at full back with Matthew O’Hanlon moving to the half back position instead of Glynn’s John Leacy. The forceful Oulart man, Darren Stamp returns from injury at wing back, while Jim Berry (who was out injured) replaces his Harriers teammate Richie Kehoe in the half forward line. Rory Jacob will make his first league start replacing Tomás O’Leary. Finally Stephen Banville returns to the team at his familiar berth, of full forward in place of Garrett Sinnott.
Despite the number of changes the side has a settled look and shows a good mix of the experience and new comers and with the likes of goal scorer Jack Guiney on the bench there are men on the line who could come in and make a real impact.
The game forms the second part to our Wexford Park doubleheader on Sunday and throws in at 2.30pm.
