The famous Fitzhenry family,the backbone of the Duffry Rovers club, are to be honoured by the GAA this Friday night when they 
will be presented with the Dermot Earley Family Award by GAA President Christy Cooney in Croke Park.
County Wexford GAA has over the years made something of a habit of producing a “families” of players be it camogie, football or hurling the Fitzhenry family of Carraduff, Kiltealy epitomize this phenomenon. Ten boys and five girls make up the family of Mark and Nancy Fitzhenry.
All 10 boys have lined out for the Duffry Rovers over the years and quite a few have lined out for their county including minor, U-21, junior and senior in both hurling and football. Seamus, Tom, Seamus, John, Martin, Gerard, Noel~ Paddy, Fran and Damien have lined out for the Rovers. But it doesn’t just end there. Three sisters, Tina, Mary and Ann have played camogie for Duffry, with Tina gaining a regular place on the Wexford team, helping the Model County to All-lreland camogie runners-up place in 1990 and losing out in All Ireland Final in 1992.
The trophy cabinet in Carraduff is filled with medals from both disciplines including camogie with the club ranging from U-12, Rackard League, U-14, U-16, Minor U-21 and Junior, Intermediate and believe it or not it displays Fifty Two County Senior Football medals. Pride of place amongst all of these medals must surely go to the 1996 All Ireland Medal won by Damien,
Not to be out done the female side of the family who represented the Duffry Rovers Camogie Club with distinction also. Tina represented Wexford at County level at junior and senior, losing out in the All Ireland Final in 1992
Along with representing the Duffry Rovers on the playing fields, almost all members of the family have undertaken roles as officers of the club, Mentors, Physios etc.
