Update on Coiste na nÓg Fixtures and Go Games 21.08.20
As per advice from Croke Park with regard to Coiste na nÓg fixtures and Go Games, these activities may proceed “behind closed doors” on the basis that one parent or guardian may attend a game where they consider it necessary for the welfare of their own child.
Parents/Guardians attending in a safeguarding /supervisory capacity are not classified as a spectator however strict social distancing and public health guidelines should be adhered to at all times. In this context, one parent/guardian per child is permitted to attend at a sporting event, including a game or training session, should they consider it necessary.
The club hosting the fixture is responsible for ensuring there is appropriate stewarding in place to ensure these guidelines are followed.
It is acknowledged these restrictions put an additional burden on clubs hosting these fixtures. Clubs are requested to follow these guidelines in so far as practically possible to ensure Go Games and Cosite na nÓg fixtures can continue for the benefit of our young players. Further advice on implementing these guidelines will be issued to clubs when it is received from the GAA/Sport Ireland which is expected next week.
Go Games will be limited to two clubs per venue. Tonight’s u11 Go Games are not impacted and proceed as scheduled. Revised Go Games for Sunday’s u9s will be circulated later today.
The co-operation of all club members, parents, players and the general public is required to ensure Go Games and Cosite na nÓg fixtures can continue in light of these new government restrictions.
Team training can continue for the moment on the basis of no more than 15 people (including coaches) in a designated area of the field.
Clubs must continue to follow all Return to Play Protocols for every training session and fixture.
Clubs who are not in a position to fullfill a Coiste na nÓg fixture(s) as a result of a Covid related issue should advise Marion Doyle by e-mailing [email protected] ASAP if they have not already done so.
