World Handball championships update
Daniel Kavanagh from St Joseph’s handball club in Wexford town will aim for gold in the World Handball Championships this afternoon in Calgary when he and Sean Kerr from Tyrone will compete in the Boys 17 and under one wall doubles final. In yesterday’s semi-final the Wexford/Tyrone duo defeated Jamie Kelly and Patrick Murphy from Galway 25-21, setting up a final tomorrow afternoon at 2pm Calgary time against Diarmuid Mulkerrins and Tadgh O’Neill
Cahir Munroe and James O’Toole from Galway defeated Mark Doyle and Josh Kavanagh in the semi-final of the boys 13 and under doubles today on a 25-14 score line. While a frustrating day for Josh saw him also defeated in the semi-final of the 13 and under singles, on this occasion James O’Toole was the winner on a 25-14 score line however it was a brilliant achievement for Mark and Josh to make the last four of the World Championships.
