Other Projects
GAA Inter-County Open Night
Some shots from Meet Your GAA Heroes Night at Bellefield on Friday May 10th despite the inclement weather conditions a great night was had by all – sincere thanks to Pettitts who sponsored Goodie Bags for all the children and Sport Savers who sponsored Gift Vouchers for Best Dressed and a most sincere thank you to all the hurlers, footballers, camogie players, Ladies footballers and handballers who took time from their hectic training schedules to be there with the children ……………….. Nothing beats being there!
GAA TY Reach Day
On Friday 17th May, over 200 TY students from St. Peters and the Loreto attended a Wexford Coaching & Games event in St. Martins. This is the second event of this type run in Wexford after a successful pilot completed in Bellefield in December where over 120 students attended.
The event highlights the need for our young people to be happy within themselves and to make healthy choices in their lives. Paudie Butler and George were our main speakers with Kevin Waters (Alcohol Awareness) and Denis O’Connor (Mental Health Awareness) working with the break out groups.
All our young players got to play our new recreational sports Caman Abu, Peil Abu and some fun games with County Coaches Paul Carty, Kevin Kennedy and Joe Kearns. Our JobBridge Coaches, JJ Doyle, Amy Ryan and Derek Murphy were also a great help in assisting with the huge increase in numbers.
A special thanks to the Teachers for accompanying the Students on the day. Thanks also to St. Martins for the use of their facilities.
Primary Schools 3rd / 4th Class Blitzes
Over 74 primary schools took part in this years Wexford Coaching and Games run 3rd / 4th class hurling blitzes. This County wide event will see over 2,000 boys and girls take to over 20 different venues in the four districts around the County from 7th – 10th May and from 20th – 24th May. A huge well done to our County coaches who are staging this mammoth blitz all over the County. One blitz location in Clonard GAA Grounds alone facilitated over 200 kids enjoying Gaelic Games. A huge amount of organising had to go into this event from the Wexford GAA Coaching Office with the help from the Urban Development Coordinators, and CE coaches.
