Now as the evenings are beginning to show signs of lengthening GAA teams around the country are hitting the gyms and training fields dreaming of summer time and glory. It’s been said that at this time of year all teams are equal, that all can dream of glory. So whether you are last year’s county champions or the also ran’s, that you can look forward with hope, all slogging in the mud, all equal.
Tonight in the Ferrycarrig Hotel, the draw for the Wexford GAA Championships for 2014 will take place and each club will know who they will be facing, focusing minds and wetting appetites. Can our 5 in a row, Senior Hurling champions Oulart-the-Ballagh continue their dominance, can Ferns recover from a gut wrenching county final defeat to challenge once again? Will the Harriers deliver on their promise shown in 2013 and will Buffers Alley come out of Intermediate weakened or with a determination to re-establish their position in the senior ranks?
In senior football once again only the fool hardy would predict the winners, St Martin’s are champions but almost any one of the other teams can have realistic expectations of winning this most open and even of championship.
