Wexford GAA along with Cottage Autism Network and Sports Active Wexford joined forces today for launch of the Inclusive Cúl Camp for children with Autism.
“Sports Active Wexford are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with Wexford GAA and Cottage Autism Network with the delivery of their fantastic inclusive camp for children with autism and their siblings/family. Looking forward to witnessing the fun, joy and happiness this camp always brings to the young people “
“Cottage Autism Network are thrilled to be working alongside Wexford GAA again this year to facilitate the 3rd Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp for children on the Autism Spectrum and their siblings.
The last two Autism specific Cúl Camps were a huge success. There will be 9 groups of 20 participants per group, and the coaches and volunteers work with the children to give them the best experience possible. The measures that Wexford GAA put in place include colour coded groups to help the children visually, no whistles in case there are some participants sensitive to sound and social stories for the children before the camp so that they know what to expect.
At Cottage Autism Network we want our members to Dream Big, and we are so grateful to Wexford GAA and to the many volunteers who give up their time to assist them during the camp that makes this vision a reality. Many of our members may not realise the honour it is to play on the pitch of Chadwicks Wexford Park, but the Board of C.A.N & the parents of the children who participate are very appreciative that we are facilitated and supported in this manner by Wexford GAA “
From a Wexford GAA Coaching and games point of view For a lot of out staff, these three days are the highlights of the summer. There is tremendous feelgood factor to be involved in this project each year . We are all truly looking forward to welcoming everyone back for a third year that will be packed with plenty of fun, games and laughs along the way
