Conor MacDonald scored 12 points as Wexford advanced to the Leinster hurling semi -final.
On Wednesday night Wexford traveled to Newbridge to begin the defence of their Bord Gais Energy Leinster U21 hurling title against Kildare.
The host team, who have had some great victories in this grade at Roinn 1 level in recent years, played extremely well and pushed the reigning champions all the way.
It took a top class performance from senior star Conor MacDonald, who scored an impressive 12 points in total, to finally kill off the challenge from Kildare.
Wexford emerged victorious on a scoreline of 0-23 to 0-14 .
Wexford will now play Offaly, who defeated Westmeath on Wednesday, in the semi-final on June 24th in Tullamore with throw in at 7:30pm.
In the other semi final Carlow, who defeated much fancied Laois, will play the winners of Dublin & Kilkenny who play their quarter final on Tuesday June 2nd.
