We are currently putting the final touches to the preparations for our U11 & U13 phase of Indoor “Shed Blitz” days.
Following on from a very successful U9 “Shed Blitz” back in March & April, we now want to continue this participation initiative for U11’s & U13’s. Starting in October, U11’s will have four rounds (2 hurling & 2 football) followed by the same in November for U13’s four rounds (2 hurling & 2 football).Again, we want to make the most of the fantastic facilities within our county and also make sure that every club is getting the opportunity to use them.
By introducing these indoor blitz days that will run in February, March, October & November, we are also extending our provision of games for young players that keep them involved in Gaelic Games for more of the year. By giving children games opportunities in a different environment it will allow them to develop a range of skills otherwise not possible.
To add another dimension to this initiative we want to bring a focus to encouraging the coaching and use of specific skills. There will be an additional point awarded for each successful completion of the skills outlined below to complement the traditional scoring method of goals and points.
- Hurling Focus Skills – The Hook & The Frontal Block
- Football Focus Skills – The Block Down & The Overhead (high) Catch
Please see attached skill cards for each of the skills outlined above. Additionally, see the following links as a great resource for coaching skills.

Teams will consist of 9 a side with roll on roll off subs, we would suggest panels of no more than 12 to ensure an adequate amount of playing time for all players involved.
Each team will get two 20 minute games each week, both games will be completed within one hour after the arrival time given, so you will not be hanging around all day. Clubs are asked to use players up to the age where possible i.e. 11-year-olds and 13-year-olds.
