Last weekend Wexford Coaching and Games held their Academy Squad Seminar where we met the development squad coaches and mentors for 2016. At this seminar we discussed the training plans for the year including upcoming blitzes for all age groups and agreed challenge match dates.
During the months of November and December, last year’s under 14 and under 15 academy players were put through a functional movement programme. This week sees the end of that programme and we are now planning on running fitness testing to see how this programme has impacted on the players.
Once the fitness testing has been completed, managers of the squads will begin the trial process with the under 14, under 15 and under 16 squads for the preparation of the 2016 blitzes.
