This Sunday is a huge weekend for Wexford GAA as Wexford Park reopens, hosting two massive games for our hurlers and footballers.
Liam Dunne’s men have started 2014 in a really positive way, winning their two opening games and narrowly losing to Muster Champions, Limerick at the weekend. There is a sense that this a developing side and the performance against Limerick, missing so many potential starters including Tomás Water, Andrew Shore, Ciaran Kenny bodes well for the future. Next up, Laois, a team who themselves are on the rise, who defeated us at minor last year and who under manager ‘Cheddar Plunket’ are a growing force in the game. Adding to spice to this encounter is that a win will secure a League quarter final spot for Wexford, while in addition there is a strong possibility that we’ll face Laois in our opening Leinster Championship game on the 1st of June.
For the footballer the stakes are equally high as they sit on the bottom of Division 3 and another defeat could put them into real danger of relegation. The performances to date have been disappointing but Sunday’s 1 point loss to Limerick was a cruel and gut wrenching way to lose a match which we had bossed up to that point. The lads have over the years shown huge heart and passion and now they are in need of support to drive them over the line and maybe grab a season turning win over Sligo.

In addition we’ll be honouring a number of Wexford heroes who have represented Wexford with honour over 100 times including.
