The first semi-final of Scór na nÓg took place on Friday night last, November 21st in Rathangan hall.
New Ross and Wexford district clubs were competing. It was great to see a large number in attendance and wonderful to see such wonderful talent on display.
Clubs represented on the night were Bannow Ballymitty, Clongeen, St. Anne’s Rathangan, St. Martin’s, Sarsfields, Rathgarogue-Cushinstown, Taghmon-Camross and Adamstown.
The first competition of the night was the solo singing with Bannow Ballymitty’s Jamie Walsh opening the competition with his rendition of Cúchulainn’s Son. Eve Donohoe, St. Anne’s then gave a lovely rendition of The Home I Left Behind. Kayleigh Moran then sang Lough Sheelin side in a lovely traditional style. Last to take the stage in this competition was John Whelan, Clongeen, with a lively rendition of The Neamstown Shore. St. Martin’s, Niamh Bridges was the only competitor in the Recitation competition and entertained the audience with her comical piece entitled Going Tomorrow. The Instrumental Music competition was the largest of the night with seven clubs represented.

Clongeen: John Whelan, Elizabeth Whelan, Ailbhe McCormack and Emma Whelan Taghmon Camross: Rachael Kinsella, Anna Eustace, Anna Piero Doyle, Rory Kavanagh and Niamh Lacey.
Adamstown: Sarah O’Brien, Ciarán English, Sinéad and Diarmaid Murphy.
Bannow Ballymitty A: Aoife O’ Dwyer, Caoimhe O’Dwyer, Ciara Cummins, Tom Moran, Serena Reville Bannow Ballymitty B: Lucy Fitzgerald, Wal Cullen, Keelyn Ryan, Siobhán Rossiter, TJ Cullen Bannow Ballymitty C: Brídín Reville, Kiera Reville, Joanne Colfer, Clare Moran, Cian O’Grady Bannow Ballymitty D: Kate Cullen, Cillian Cullen, Philip Roche, Kayleigh and Caoimhe Moran Bannow Ballymitty E: Rebecca Stafford, Leona O’Grady, Johanna Walsh, Shannon and Ciara Anglim Bannow Ballymitty were the only club represented in the Ballad Group with songs such as The Neamstown Shore, Brian O Linn, Little Jimmy Murphy and Ellis Island being sung. It was also lovely to hear songs in the Irish language such as Peigín Leitir Mór and Táirse Abhaile. Groups were as follows:
Bannow Ballymitty A: Olivia Breen, Ciara Breen, Caoimhr O’Dwyer, Lola Lacey and Róise Furlong Bannow Ballymitty B: Kayleigh, Caoimhe and Tom Moran, Kate and Wal Cullen Bannow Ballymitty C: TJ and Cillian Cullen, Aaron Hogan, Joseph Devlin and Philip Roche Bannow Ballymitty D: Emma Wickham, Lucy Fitzgerald, Chantelle Nugent, Aoife O’Dwyer and Jamie Walsh The final competition of the night was the Léiriú with Bannow Ballymitty taking to the stage with a piece entitled “The 15th August in Cullenstown” Cathal Cummins, Daniel Wickham, Niamh Colfer, Kate Cullen, Leona O’ Grady, Johanna Walsh and Kayleigh and Caoimhe Moran represented their club in this section.
Well Done to all those who participated on the night. Following the competition, Bean an Tí Dearbhla Daly thanked St. Anne’s G.A.A. Club and Rathangan Hall for hosting the event, the adjudicators, Scór Committee, teachers, parents and competitors. She then announced the results as follows Solo singing: Eve Donohoe, St Anne’s and Kayleigh Moran, Bannow Ballymitty.

Those who qualified will now take part in the county final on Saturday next Nov 29th in Oulart at 7.30p.m.
Quiz category(Teams of 4) takes place in Glynn Barntown G.A.A. Complex on Thursday 27th Nov. at 7.30p.m.
