Scór na nÓg County Final took place in Oulart hall on Saturday last. The first competition of the night was the Instrumental Music. Réalt na Mara/Ballygarrett were represented by Cathal Lee, John Furlong, Áine Neary, Kate O’Loughlin and Regina Prendergast. Next to perform were Adamstown’s Evan, Sinéad, Diarmaid Murphy, Sarah O’Brien and Ciarán English. Meanwhile Naomh Éanna were represented by Róisín Rooney, Aoibheann Doyle, Lorna Cushe, Hilda Browne and Aideen Byrne. It was the Bannow Ballymitty group of Melanie Carthy, Joanne Colfer, Leona and Brídín Reville and Michael Martin that were victorious on the night.
Figure Dancing was next on the programme. Shelmaliers were represented by Aoife and Andrea Fielding, Thea and Erin Kehoe, Aoibhe Murphy and Lauren O’Connor. Naomh Éanna had two groups competing. Competitors were Éabha Delaney, Kayleigh Kinsella, Claire Byrne, Blathnaid Kenny, Aoife Molloy, Sarah O’Sullivan, Ciara Kennedy and Hannah Willis. The winning Naomh Éanna dancers were Chloe O’Brien, Gillian Hayes, Elizabeth O’Sullivan, Caoimhe Kenny, Caoimhe O’Neill, Amy Doran, Ciara Black and Lauren Byrne
The next competition was the Solo Singing. Brónagh Hogan, Cloughbawn, Nicole Pierce, Shelmaliers, Kayleigh Moran, Bannow Ballymitty and Grace Murphy, Blackwater competed in this category with Grace Murphy qualifying for the Leinster Semi Final.
Brónagh Hogan, Cloughbawn and Niamh Bridges, St Martins competed in the recitation competition with Brónagh qualifying for the Leinster Semi Final.
Bannow Ballymitty competed in the Ballad Group competition with two groups including Melanie Carthy, Leona Reville, Clem Rossiter, Brandon Boyce, Michael Martin, Michael Watts, Cathal Cummins, Daniel Wickham, Leona O’Grady and Niamh Colfer. Ferns representatives were Oran Fitzpatrick, William Dunne, Katie O’Toole and Lisa Doran. Ballad Group champions on the night were Naomh Éanna’s Aoibheann Doyle, Róisín Rooney, Lorna Cushe, Aideen Byrne and Hilda Browne
The final competition of the night was the Léiriú. Winners in this category were Shelmaliers Aoife Hearne, Aisling Feeney, Sarah Doyle, Sarah Whelan, Nicole Pierce, Aliison Doyle and Ciara Mc Mahon. Bannow Ballymitty were represented by Cathal Cummins, Kate Cullen, Niamh Colfer, Leona O’Grady, Kayleigh Moran, Johanna Walsh, Michael Watts and Daniel Wickham. Shelmaliers had a second group of Gary and Adam Murphy, Cathal Harding, Anna and Sophie Phelan. St Martin’s group of Peig Busher O’ Sullivan, Niamh and Aoife Bridges, Claire Culleton, Mary Barrett and Phillipa Breslin also competed in this competition.
On Thursday last the quiz final was held in Glynn Barntown G.A.A. Complex. Winners on the night were David Mc Donnell, Manus Harte, Andrew O’ Connor and Philip Lambert representing St. Mary’s Rosslare
Quiz winners qualified for the All Ireland. All other category winners progress to the Leinster Semi Final in Parnells GAA club, Coolock on Sunday next 15th December at 2p.m. Best of luck to all involved.
