Wexford gained their first win under David Powers management in a windy St Patrick’s Park tonight.
The final score was 1-13 to 0-13.
Wexford playing with the aide of a strong wind were 1-4 to 0-0 after 20 minutes but wayward shooting (8 first half wides) allowed IT Carlow fight back to just 1-5 to 0-4 at half time.
IT Carlow started the second half well and were only 1 point behind after 10 minutes but with Subs Paddy Byrne, Horeswood’s Declan Murphy as well as the St Marys Maudlintown pair of Graham Carty and Dermot Flood all adding good scores Wexford pulled away again.
IT Carlow had the last couple of points to leave just a goal in it at the end but it was a satisfied David Power who left the pitch now planning for the Rd 3 game V Wicklow on Sunday in Gorey at 2pm.
