At the most recent meeting of the Wexford GAA Management Committee, held via teleconference, it was agreed that a subcommittee of the Management Committee will bring proposal on a revised format for club championships to the next management meeting for ratification to the Co. Board.
It is expected that it will not be possible to play the usual club championship format. It is envisaged that, as previously notified, the CCC will allow a lead-in time for training of a minimum of 2 weeks before any club championship games would be fixed (proposed format attached separately).
All Wexford GAA clubs were commended at the meeting for the support they are providing to those who are vulnerable in the community directly through club and other local initiatives and by also supporting the County Council’s Community Resilience Programme. Supporters are encouraged to continue to fly their county and club flags in support of frontline workers.
2020 Wexford GAA Club Card holders will be contacted once the details of the format for club championships have been ratified formally by our clubs. In the event that no 2020 club championships take place, 2020 Club Cards will be valid for 2021 club championships. We appreciate our patrons support and understanding on this matter in these uncertain times.
Our Annual County Model Development draw is currently suspended; however, we are presently considering a format for a re-structured draw taking place at a later date and hope to be in a position over the coming weeks to issue more information in this regard.
We wish to sympathise and pass on our condolences to the many families and people associated to Wexford GAA who have suffered a bereavement in recent weeks.
Wexford GAA is grateful to our sponsors, for reaffirming their sponsorship of Wexford GAA during these uncertain times.
We wish to assure all concerned that the prudent management of the County’s financial affairs is paramount and whatever steps are required to ensure the long-term viability of our financial structures will be taken as and when considered necessary.
We ask clubs, members and supporters to please continue to adhere to all guidelines outlined by the GAA, the Government and the HSE. All games and activities, including those under the jurisdiction of Coiste na nÓg, remain suspended as per the GAA directive issued last week. This will continue until we are advised otherwise.
Once again, we strongly urge all our members to adhere to directives from the GAA, the HSE and the Department of Health during the current pandemic.
