The Wexford senior footballers beat Wicklow, after extra time, in their Bord na Móna O’Byrne Shield match played today in St Patrick’s Park, Enniscorthy. The score line was 11 points apiece at full time and required extra time to decided the fixture. Wexford pushed on to win the game with the aid of a Paudie Kelly goal scored in the second half of extra time, winning on a score line of 1-15 to 0-17 points.
Wexford now progress to meet Laois in the Shield final which is to be played next Sunday 29th of January in Clongeen. Wexford will however have to plan for this game without the services of Niall Murphy who received a straight red card in the final minutes of the game.
