Wexford senior footballers lost to Carlow IT in their O’Byrne Cup 2nd round tie in Bunclody tonight, Wednesday 9th.
New manager Aidan O’Brien made multiple changes to the side that lost out to DIT in Kilanerin on Sunday last. He has now given almost all his panel a run out in the O’Byrne Cup.
Wexford scored first with a Kevin O’Grady free, before Ben Brosnan levelled for the visitors.
Scores were traded throughout the first half and the sides went in at 6 points each at the break.
Kevin had added another free, then Paddy Byrne added a brace before Adrian Flynn, captain for the night, added two more points just before half time. David Murphy had replaced Barry O’Gorman who had to retire injured.
Anthony Masterson & Andrew Shore replaced Brendan Redmond and Sean Gaule for the second half. Wexford were on top for the 3rd quarter but didnt put the scores on the board.
Paddy Byrne with his 3rd, Kevin Gore and Adrian Flynn (also his 3rd) had Wexford 9-7 ahead after 20 minutes.
Kevin O’Grady with his 3rd free scored Wexford 10th and last point of the evening on the half hour. The college students levelled from the kickout and controlled the remainder of the game adding two more points.
