At Congress 2011, a motion was passed ensuring that we now have the roles of County & Club Children’s Officer written into the Official Guide.
As part of the Co Loch Garman strategic plan, I am currently in the process of finalising a three year implementation plan of the ‘Code of Best Practice for Youth Sport’ (2012 – 2014).
The Code of Best Practice for Youth Sport is the GAA’s National Policy and sets our realistic and achievable guidance for all members and clubs of the GAA family in their work with children and young people.
REQUIREMENT – There is a requirement on every Club to appoint a Children’s Officer
In conjunction with your Coiste na nOg Committees, I would greatly appreciate if you can consider an individual appropriate for the above role and then complete the attached form and email to GAA Office by Fri 10th Feb.
You can download a document on the role of the office. Please note that it is not necessary that someone has attended training initially but the individual will be expected to attend training as part of their role.
The appointment of a Club Children’s Officer is a crucial step to further enhance the good practice currently being applied in Clubs. It is imperative that we provide the best possible environment and practices as we promote our games on a daily basis at Club level.
CLUB CHILDREN’S OFFICER NOMINATION FORM – please download and return to Wexford GAA office ASAP

The Workshops are a GAA/Irish Sports Council 3 hour basic awareness course with a maximum of 20 people participating at each Workshop. Each participant receives an Irish Sports Council certificate of attendance. Workshops are delivered by Irish Sports Council/HSE trained tutors.
If you have any queries on the Children’s Officer Role or would like to organise a Workshop, please contact me.
Thanks for your help.
