Lads V Boys, Scallion Eaters v Strawberry Pickers, Its Carlow V Wexford in the Battle of the Border fight night to be held in Bunclody AFC Arena on bank holiday Sunday March 16th.
HWH Bunclody warriors attacked Kildavin on Sunday morning in a pre-emptive strike in their forthcoming Battle of the Border.
The Wexford boys raised flags and sang Boolavogue and The Original Dancing at the Crossroads as they stole cattle and women before crossing the Slaney & Clody rivers with their ‘Loot’.
This long running feud between the ‘LADS’ of Carlow and the ‘BOYS of Wexford’ comes to a head on St Patrick’s weekend when 12 brave warriors from each Clan come face to face in a true Battle of the Border.
Generations of tension will come to the fore when the Clan Champions enter the fray to establish superiority for one Clan or the other.
Tensions have been running high and have come to a head when HWH champion Dylan ‘Curley Head; Kehoe charmed Kildavins Princess Ailish ‘Fair Haired’ Conway and took her to his kingdom in Australia.
This has been the last in a long line of such raids by the BOYS with previous raids on the Clan Conway include Liam ’Triathlon’ Kelly claiming Tess ‘Florence Nightingale’ Conway in a previous generation. . This was made worse when they produced a string of champions for the Wexford Clan. To add insult to injury the BOYS Legal Eagle Peter Crean stole the LADS financial Banker Fran Ryan and took her over the border and they too were prolific in producing a plethora of offspring wearing the Purple & Gold. The LADS are now at the end of their tether and at last are taking a stand.
Previous efforts included sending Christy The Hammer Neal down to infiltrate the BOYS with little success saying they were too soft, even standing around while the opposition sat on the pitch changing boot. He rettreated across the Border in disgust.
The LADS are now rolling out the big guns with Eddie ‘Andre The Giant’ Byrne weighing in at 125 kg leading from the front when they enter the battleground in Bunclody’s home turf in Bunclody AFC’s arena on the eve of St Patrick, March 16th.
There can only be one victor on the night and one Clan will march from the battlefield, head held high and crowned Champions of the Border.
