Our u/14’s did so well to beat Naomh Éanna on Thursday evening last in a wet and windy Bellefield considering they began the game with only 13 players as team mates opted for soccer – but by the second period with determination and the full compliment we went on to win 3.8 to 2.10. Scorers: Dale Kirwan 1.2, Caolan Carty 1.3, Diarmuid Byrne 1 goal, Adam Fox 0-2, and Dale Donohoe 0-1. Well done lads.
Our second string of Juvenile hurlers, despite their gallant efforts, went down to Horeswood 1.14 to 3.4. Scorers: Tossy Doyle 1.2 Declan Courtney 1.1 Gary Murphy 1-0 and Jack Treacy 0-1.
Our senior hurlers had a good victory on Saturday evening at Bellefield when they took on an albeit under-strength Harriers side and defeated them 5.16 to 0-6. Good defending and some well taken scores augers well for the commencement of the championship next weekend.
Scorers:Tomas Mossy Mahon 1.6, Tommy Tucker Foley 0-4. Super sub John Ryan 2-0, Jack Kelly 0-3, Declan Skippy Ruth and Aaron Ronan one goal each and Cathal Murphy, Mark Gahan and Barry Nolan 0-1 each.
As a result of two walkovers being awarded against us, our Junior B team have now been expelled from the All County League . Therefore, the game scheduled for Saturday against Oylegate did not take place and our Junior game against Horeswood was postponed due to the fact that we are drawn to play each other in the first round of the Championship this weekend.

Easter Weekend and the Hurling Championship swings into action with all League Football matches put on hold.Sunday 24th April – 5.30pm – New Ross – Senior Hurling – Rapparees V Cloughbawn.. Our Junior team will play the second game in New Ross at 7pm.v Horeswood.

In what has been a good weekend for Wexford generally with our Senior hurlers pulling out all the stops to draw with Tipperary and avoid relegation and our marvellous Camogie team defeating Galway in the League Final and our Minor footballers notching up a comprehensive win over Kilkenny, might I take this opportunity to commiserate with our U/21 footballers, who unfortunately after an excellent campaign, were unable to go the full distance – thank you for the hope and the many hours of entertainment – it would seem that your efforts have lifted the county. Congrats to our own Brendan Kearney and Mel Doyle who were part of the Minor football win.
