Wexford went into yestarday last round game against Laois all ready looking forward to a Quarter final place Laois who were clearly desperate to avoid a relegation play-off put up a spirited display, David Dunne’s early goal put Wexford in good position as they led by 1-3 to 0-1 but Laois drew level by the half-time whistle, 0-13 to 1-10
Diarmuid O’Keeffe got the second Wexford goal early in the second half but Laois refused to lie back and late three-pointers from Purcell and Neil Foyle had them back within touching distance, 2-21 to 2-20.
But the Wexford stuck over the last three points through substitute Kevin Foley, Jack Guiney (free) and Dunne to win by four.
