Glynn Barntown 0-6 Athlone 1-6
Glynn Barntown hosted Athlone in the Intermediate football semi final at Killurin on Sunday at 2pm.
A very windy day along the south east coast made for difficult conditions for such an important game.
Indeed it took until the seventeenth minute before the first score, a point for Glynn Barntown who had the aid of the wind in the first half.
The forged a four points to one lead coming to half time when a killer goal for Athlone left the sides level at the break.
An early point in the second half steadied the ship for the home side but it was to be their final score of the day.
Glynn Barntown defended with great spirit against the gale and with 6sixminutes remaining they still held a one point lead, 0-6 to 1-2.
It was the visitors however who then found their range and hit four unanswered points in those closing minutes to win on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-6.
