F.C.J. Bunclody 1-05
Gorey Community School 0-04
A wet January school day caused poor playing conditions for the Senior School’s Leinster Semi Final. Despite the inclement weather conditions, James Owens handled the game well in what was an evenly matched game. Gorey CS opened the game after one minute with a stylish point coming from the boot of Fionn Doyle. It wasn’t long until Bunclody equalised in the fifth minute. James Flood minded the Gorey net with expertise pulling some stunning saves. This led to James Casey lobbing a high miraculous ball over the bar to create a point but with Conor Creane on good form points wise for FCJ Bunclody, it was hard to seperate the two sides. Marc Halpin for Gorey passed to Fionn Doyle making the teams even just before the break.
The second half saw Jamie Heffernan opening with an attack on the Bunclody goal but hit it wide after two minutes. FCJ Bunclody pulled away when Ryan Nolan rocked the back of the Gorey net after thirteen minutes. Fionn Doyle’s point in the twenty forth minute still gave Gorey no chance of success despite a late surge on goal and square ball in the dying moments. The strength of Bunclody’s midfield proved remarkable winning twice as many kick outs in comparison to the losing side. Bunclody will now face Portlaoise in the Leinster final.
