Wexford Senior Footballers and Wexford Youths go head to head
The Wexford Senior Footballers will take on the Wexford Youths in Ferrycarrig Park on Wednesday December 28th at 2pm. The proceeds of the soccer match will be shared by both teams as they prepare for another year in their respective competitions.
The event is a great opportunity for families to meet some of their local sporting heroes on what promises to be a very entertaining day out. Tickets for the game are priced at €10, while it will cost students and OAPs only €5 and kids under 12 can enjoy the game for free.
The footballers have plenty of soccer experience with former Youths Eric Bradley, Ben Brosnan and Rory Quinlivan taking part. Former Irish international and Preston North End defender Ciaran Lyng will also be involved. The Youths will have some of their finest talent on show with Patsi Malone, Danny Furlong, Dean Broaders and Tom Elmes all available to play.
According to Wexford Senior Football manager Jason Ryan, ‘the game is a great opportunity to see some of Wexford’s top athletes go head to head on the field in what should be a great family day out at the Wexford Youth’s home venue. This will be a great social occasion for our players in the lead up to our opening O’Byrne cup game with Meath on the 8th of January.’
The match will be see newly appointed manager Shane Keegan take charge of the Youths for the first time. Keegan took over this week replacing Noel O’Connor and it will be the fans first opportunity to meet the new gaffer.
Mick Wallace commented that, ‘it will be nice to see some former Youths’ players coming back to Ferrycarrig to take part in the fundraiser and while it is only a friendly it is a good opportunity for our new manager to have a look at his squad in action.’
