Wexford 5-12 Laois 0-19
Wexford retained their Division 1B status in what was a topsy-turvy encounter in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny yesterday (15th April).
Once again it was 19 year old Jack Guiney who lead the attack amassing a personal tally of 3-4. While in the corner Paul Morris was in fine form, showing no effects of his mid-week illness, ending the game with 1-1.
It could be said the score line flattered Wexford and had Laois’s penalty, found the back of the net instead of whizzing over Eanna Martin’s crossbar, on the 60 minute the outcome could have been very different. However from the resulting puc out, David Redmond dispatched Wexford’s 4th goal of the contest to settle Wexford nerves.
The game was critical to the development of this young team and puts them in a positive frame of mind as they face into their opening championship game against Offaly on the 2nd of June.
