A meeting of Coiste Contae CLG Loch Garman was held in the PC Peripherals Education Hub at Chadwicks Wexford Park on Wednesday October 22nd, 2025. Matters discussed were as follows:
Club Championships
Aoife Parle (County Secretary and Secretary of CCC) said that our 2025 adult club championships are now nearing completion, and thanked all clubs for co-operation regarding fixtures.
Our U21 championships still need to be completed in both codes. Fixtures are being arranged as possible, but they have to work around which clubs are in adult county finals and which clubs subsequently go on to represent Wexford in provincial club competitions. Another consideration is where clubs are still involved in U21 competition in both hurling and football.

A number of appointments to the backroom teams of our senior hurling and U20 hurling squads for 2026 were ratified. It had previously been decided that managers Keith Rossiter and Rónán Joyce would retain those positions.

Corporate trustees model for clubs
Delegates were reminded that it is being recommended to clubs that they move to a model of corporate trustees rather than personal trustees, if they have not already done so. This can be especially important with regard to drawing down funding such as Sports Capital Grants, or securing loans. Further information is to be circulated to clubs.
A delegate suggested that perhaps one law firm could act on behalf of all clubs who have yet to move to a corporate trustee model, with a view to reducing the relevant costs per club. While others said some clubs may prefer to retain the services of solicitors they normally use, it was agreed that this was a good idea, and correspondence is to issue.
Coiste na nÓg
Cathoirleach John Kenny referred to the large number of Coiste na nÓg finals played in recent weeks, thanked all those involved in arranging them, and congratulated all winners.
He also thanked the clubs who hosted finals played at venues other than the Halo Tiles Centre of Excellence or Samaritans St. Patrick’s Park.
Secretary Aoife Parle said the only negative note was that unfortunately there had been some reports of some teams not leaving dressing rooms in a tidy state afterwards. She appealed to all teams to always be sure to clean up after themselves before leaving a venue.
Strategic Plan
Cathoirelach John Kenny gave a detailed outline on the ongoing work in developing a new Strategic Plan to cover the years 2026 to 2030. All input from any interested parties would be welcome.
Leinster Council Report
Leinster Council delegate PJ Howlin confirmed that the Walsh Cup and O’Byrne Cup pre-season competitions are to return in 2026, and will run between January 1st and January 18th. Because of the tight schedule, if any games are cancelled due to poor weather conditions or other reasons, there will be a toss of a coin to determine winner/loser rather than the match being re-fixed.
He added that there may be a change in the usual order of matches in the group stage of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, such that (for example) Wexford and Kilkenny do not always meet in the final group game. Fixtures for the 2026 championship will follow in due course.
Leinster Convention will be held on January 11th in The Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. There will be vacancies for Chairman, Treasurer, and Communications Officer.
Infrastructure
Safety & Facilities Officer David Tobin said that in Chadwicks Wexford Park, work has commenced on providing an upstairs meeting room and small office. This project will include installation of a lift. A new lift is also be installed at the main stand for providing access to the area for wheelchair users and others with mobility issues.
Proceedings re. the purchase of land at the Halo Tiles Centre of Excellence in Ferns are ongoing. Previous plans for the venue are being reviewed in light of the new land that will be available for use. It remains the case that while a 70% grant for development works has already been secured, funding will be needed locally for the other 30%.
An issue with floodlights at Samaritans St. Patrick’s Park was expected to be resolved on the day after the meeting, when contractors Musco were due to visit the site.
Convention 2025
Convention 2025 will be held in Whites Hotel on Monday December 8th. The closing date for motions and nominations is Monday November 10th.
Nominations will be required for the position of Vice Chairman in particular, as current incumbent Dermot Howlin (Bannow-Ballymitty) has decided to step away from management positions, having served on An Coiste Bainistí since 1987 in a variety of roles.
Cathaoirleach John Kenny paid warm tribute to Dermot, saying he always gave 100% to each of those roles, and this was echoed by all present.
Aon Ghnó Eile
Scór na nÓg will take place in Clonroche Community Centre on Saturday November 15th next, beginning at 5 p.m. The associated quiz competition will be held in the Cloughbawn GAA Club complex the following Tuesday, November 18th, beginning at 7.30 p.m. All clubs are encouraged to enter both events.
Cathaoirelach John Kenny reminded delegates that 2026 will be Year 3 of a three-year fundraising cycle with Wexford Camogie and Wexford LGFA in respect of the Halo Tiles Centre of Excellence. This year’s fundraiser was ‘Quid Games’, held on Good Friday night. It is also proposed to hold next year’s on Good Friday, which will fall on Friday April 3rd. Ideas for the format of the fundraiser are currently being considered and all suggestions would be welcomed.
The meeting ended with the Cathaoirleach wishing luck to all teams who will be contesting County Finals in the weeks ahead, and also to those who win there and go on to represent us in Leinster Club Championships.
Next meeting: Thursday November 20th.
