Bulletin following Coiste Bainistí Meeting on 17 July 2022.
Rúnaí Coiste na nÓg
Aoife Parle, Naomh Éanna, attended the meeting. Micheál Martin, Cathaoirleach CLG Loch Garman, thanked Aoife for volunteering to take on the vacant position of Rúnaí Coiste na nÓg. Her appointment will be brought to the next County Committee meeting to be ratified.
Senior Football
As announced on Monday, Shane Roche has decided to step down as manager of the Senior Football Team. Micheál Martin thanked Shane and his backroom team for their service and dedication.
A Special County Committee meeting will be convened next week to appoint a committee to appoint a replacement. A similar appointment protocol as was used in 2021 for the appointment of a new Senior Hurling Manager will be used again.
Adult Club Championships
The CCC will meet following the completion of games on Sunday evening next to agree the fixtures for the Quarter Finals and to make the draws for the Semi Finals. The CCC will also consider how to avoid fixture clashes with Wexford LGFA’s All-Ireland Final on Sunday, 31 July including scheduling games for the bank holiday on Monday, 1 August 2022.
The dates for knockout stages of the Club Hurling Championship are as follows:
- 29/30/31 Jul/1 Aug Senior -> Junior A QFs
- 5/6/7 Aug Senior -> Junior A SFs and Relegation Finals and Junior B QFs
- 12/13/14 Aug Senior -> Junior A Finals and Junior B SFs
- 19/20/21 Aug Junior B Final
The Pettitt’s Senior Hurling Final will take place on Sunday, 14 August 2022 at 3:00pm and will be broadcast live on TG4. Oulart-The Ballagh’s Senior Hurling winning teams from 1995 and 1997 will be honoured on the day.
It was also agreed to seek clarification from County Committee on the interpretation of the Championship Regulations 2022 on whether the CCC has the power to decide that, in the event of a draw, whether extra time should be played in county finals or not before going to a replay. Given the condensed and intensive nature of the current championship format, it was felt that extra time on the day may not be fair to the effort given by both sides.
It is planned to commence the Adult Football Championships on 26/27/28 August 2022 with the Football Finals planned for 14/15/16 October.

MOU with Wexford Camogie and Wexford LGFA
The draft proposals discussed with Wexford Camogie and LGFA organisations in respect of the development and usage of Halo Tiles Wexford GAA COE by all three organisations together with other joint initiatives were approved by Coiste Bainistí. If the proposals are ratified by all three County Committees and agreement is reached between the organisations, relevant legal documents will be drawn up and signed by all parties.
It is planned to host the Wexford Camogie and Wexford LGFA County Finals in Chadwicks Wexford Park this year.
Age Friendly Alliance
The Age Friendly Alliance is a high-level cross-sector group, chaired by the Wexford County Council Chief Executive, Tom Enright, whose member agencies form an overarching strategic partnership to develop and oversee the realisation of the Wexford Age Friendly Strategy. Tony Dempsey has been appointed as the Age Friendly Alliance Ambassador for Wexford.
Wexford GAA is supporting this initiative in two ways: (1) access to purchase tickets; and (2) physical access to games. It is hoped to pilot a shuttle bus service from the Wexford County Council offices car park to Chadwicks Wexford Park for the upcoming Senior Hurling County Final.
