This course links the students with the schools coaching programme and the coach education awards through course tutor Damien Quigly. The Students also organise a series of fun days in the schools during the summer term as well as assist in the GAA Kellogg’s Cul Camps. To date over 50 students have completed the course with help from the coaching department.
During the first year the participants undertake the Award 1 programme as well as FETAC Level 5 modules in both Hurling and Football coaching. In year 2 they do the Award 2 programme and FETAC level 6 Hurling and Football Coaching. The Centre and, in particular, the coaching tutor Damian Quigley has developed these FETAC Awards at national level and they have been pioneered in Wexford VTOS. They also complete the ‘Child protection in Sport’ Code of Ethics course, a referee training course and an Occupational First Aid course.
