There were jubilant scenes in Cashel recently when Wexford won the U16/17 All Ireland Final against Limerick. Liam Shannon from Bridgetown and Bryan Kehoe from Castlebridge were first into action against Glen McNamara and Michael Whelan and they got Wexford off to a dream start in their first game, both players serving brilliantly and winning it 15-0 and . The second game was closer but they kept the pressure on and won it 15-8.
Aaron Wright Power and Jack Roche were next in against Eoin Hegarty and Ben Walsh and they were both in great form, winning their first game 15-11. They went 6-2 down in the second game but they stormed back with some lovely aces and won it out 15-10. Wexford won the Final on an aggregate score of 60-29. Stephen Greene and Ryan Bates, both Bridgetown, were the other players on the panel.
This All Ireland win is a great boost for juvenile handball in Wexford.. Congratulations to all the players involved and their families for the support. Thanks also to Richard Martin and Tony Reid for doing a great job as manager/assistant manager respectively.
