On Saturday in Clongeen, St Anne’s and Glynn-Barntown faced off for the second week in a row in the Premier U-21 Football final replay. Glynn won the game by a single point on a scoreline of 3-6 (15) to 1-11(14).
Meanwhile today, again in Clongeen, Fethard and Crossabeg-Ballymurn lined out in the Rionn 1 u-21 football final. It ended in a comprehensive 1-12 to 2-4 win for Fethard who pulled away in the second half, the game had been level at half time Fethard 0-6, Crossabeg-Ballymurn 1-3 but the seaside men dug deepest in the final 30 minutes.
In Gorey, home town boys Naomh Éanna took on Kilkenny champions, Thomastown in the semi final of the Leinster Club Junior Hurling Championship. It unfortunately ended in heavy defeat for the Wexford men, it ended at full time 1-24 to 0-10. Thomastown are an excellent side and should go far.
Gorey have lots to be positive about after a good year, winning promotion to Intermediate and they can feel confident as they go forward that their hard work at underage is beginning to deliver with many observers tipping them to continue their rise over the coming year.
Finally in Ladies football Wexford Senior champions, Shelmaliers were crushed by Donaghmoyne of Monaghan by 1-22 to 0-08.
