It’s another busy weekend for Wexford GAA with both our senior teams in action.
The Wexford Senor Hulers will attempt this Sunday to win the Walsh Cup trophy for the first time since 2002. In their way stand Anthony Daly’s Dublin, a team who Wexford will play in the league and in their opening game of the 2013 championship in Wexford Park in June. A great rivalry between the two counties has emerged over the past decade at senior and underage levels as they battle for supremacy. The hurlers will open their league campaign with an away trip to our near neighbours Carlow on the 23rd of February.
Sunday’s Bord na Mona/Leinster GAA Walsh Cup final is fixed for Sunday at 2pm in Bellefield and the intimacy the Enniscorthy venue is sure to add to the sense of occasion.
At the same time, Wexford’s senior Footballers will travel up the road to Armagh in the second of their Division One National Football League games. Aidan O’Brien’s men won their 1st game on Sunday versus a plucky Longford challenge but will have to step up their performance if they are to take the points on this tricky away trip. A win though would set them up well for visit of Derry to Wexford on the 3rd of March.
Best of luck to both panels.
