Wexford and Dublin have a date in the first round of the Leinster senior hurling championship in a double header with the football game V Kildare on May 29th next.
That game is fixed for Croke Park and will be our senior hurlers first game in headquarters since the Leinster final of 2008.
Those of us who followed Wexford in the last centaury would have considered Croke Park to be our home from home as we played most of our Leinster semi-finals and finals there at that time.
Recent years have not been so kind to the hurlers in terms of trips to this magnificent stadium but as the old saying goes when something doesn’t show up for a long period of time, then inevitably, two will come along together.
And invariably this is the case again as Wexford and Dublin both won their Bord Na Mona Leinster GAA Series Walsh Cup semi finals at the weekend, the final has been fixed as the curtain raiser to the Dublin/Kerry NFL round 1 game in Croke Park next Saturday.
Our game throws in at 5pm and gives this young panel an opportunity to taste Croker on a big occasion, soaking in the atmosphere and experience the big day buzz.
