Our Under 16 Hurling Talent Academies have been fine tuning their preparations in anticipation of one of their biggest tests of the year, the Tipperary Supporters Tournament. This is most prestigious tournament in hurling at this grade. The panel came together this week for an overnight training camp held in Ballygarrett. Management report that they are very pleased with the progress the players are making, the skill level and the work ethic on display.
In all 47 players were fit to participate, while 3 other players were present but injured with 2 more being unavailable due to work. This was ‘training camp’ in its truest sense, with the lads being accommodated in tents for the night. Players arrived at 10am and were broken into teams of four for camp.
They were then put through 3 x 40 minute sessions in 3 groups- coached by Willie Cleary, Paul Carley, Darren Sane, Kevin Doyle and Jimmy MacDonald, overseen by manager Paul Dempsey
This was followed by 2 additional sessions in afternoon by Paul and Jimmy followed by a workshop with Murt Flynn on team work and communication. The lads then had an inspiring talk by Willie Cleary.
The lads paid a relaxing trip to the beach, followed by some downtime and fun games back at camp.
Our thanks to all involved and who made this possible, Ballygarrett GAA, the Talent Academy Chairman (chef for the trip!) to Willie Cleary, Paul Carley, Darren Sane, Kevin Doyle and Jimmy MacDonald and team manager Paul Dempsey. Of course as always none of this could happen without the support of players families and clubs.
