Wexford U15 Football Development Squad triumph in Leinster Blitz.
“Our U15 football development squad competed in the first Leinster blitz in Carlow on saturday 16th of may and were up against Limerick and Wicklow in their two games.
The squad have shown a firm commitment and fantastic attitude to training and their hard work are starting to come to the fore.
In our first game we were up against Limerick and we started brightly with some well taken scores. The determined attitude of the players was clearly on view as we started to dominate in all positions and we carried this through to the second half and finished on a very impressive winning scoreline of Wexford 5-10 Limerick 1-02.
Our final match was against Wicklow whom we had played in a tight challenge game earlier in the year. Again our lads started very well and started to dominate most areas of the pitch, we took some early points and hit two goals before the break. The second half the lads were in control and determined to finish on a high finishing the game with a 9 point winning margin of Wexford 3-05 Wicklow 1-02.
The improvement of this squad and the new found belief in their style of play was very encouraging to watch and the management team in this early stage of development are happy with progress to date. A very impressive statistic of 67 turnovers over the two games is very encouraging. The management team would like to thank the parents of the players who always have the lads at the early morning training sessions on time.
Our next Blitz is July 4th and will be held in Wexford and the team and management will now turn their focus to this event, details of which will follow once finalised.”
