A very Successfull 2014 Coiste na nÓg season came to an end and the start of a whole new season begun on Monday night with the County Underage convention which took place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. Each year two majour underage awards are presented at Coiste na nÓg AGM one goes to the Club Person Of The Year for individual contribution and hard work to there Club the other is Club of the Year for outstanding achievements throughout the year theses awards were deservingly presented to Mary Kavanagh of Clonard GAA Club for Club person of the year and Club of the year went jointly this year to Rathgarogue/Cushinstown and Glynn Barntown GAA clubs.
The business end of things at this years convention included 2014 Motions for the year ahead, two motions were presented to and passed by clubs at this years AGM. Motion 1 from St Annes which stated U-14 and U-16 in both codes in a 12 a side games to become 13 a side competition. Motion 2 from the Coiste na nÓg Loch Garman CCCC That the Quarter Finals in both hurling and football at U-14 level be replaced by a championship and shield format. Teams placed 1st to 4th to championship Semi Finals, 1v4 and 2v3. Semi Final and Final at neutral venues. Teams placed 5th to 8th to shield Semi Finals, 5v8 and 6v7. Semi Finals to be played at the grounds of the teams who finish 5th and 6th in their division. Shield final at a neutral venue. Both motions were passed.
