Wexford 0-22 Dublin 1-17
Martin Storey’s Wexford minor hurlers won a hard fought extra time victory over Dublin in Parnell Park today. Wexford got off to a dire start losing captain Andew Kenny to a late fitness test and conceeding an early goal when a clearance was blocked and spilled into the net. Wexford were in the opening quarter trailing Dublin 0-02 to 1-05 but fought back valiantly and at half time Wexford trailed 1-08 to 0-08.
During the second half Wexford reeled Dublin in and then overtook their lead and in the final minute of the game Wexford were one point but a last minute free allowed Dublin to level it and send the game to extra time with a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-16.
In extra time it was blow for blow as Dublin refused to allow Wexford pull ahead. Wexford led by one point at half time in extra time but on resumption Dublin immediately equalised again! In the final minutes Wexford opened up a 3 point lead with Dublin scoring late on giving Wexford a 2 point win.
