October is the month many players await anxiously each year with the hope of their club/team contesting a county final and now it has arrived.
The Petttitts Senior Hurling Final 2011 will be played in Wexford Park on Sunday next 9th October at 3.15 pm. This year contesting the final will be current county champions Oulart-The Ballagh and Rathnure who are back in the final after a five year lay off. When these two clubs last met in 2006 the game ended in a draw and second day out Rathnure came out on top. Oulart-The Ballagh are going for three in a row so an exciting afternoon is in store for everyone.
Preceeding this game will be the Minor hurling Div. 1 between two town teams – Faythe Harriers from Wexford and Rapparess from Enniscorthy. This game will commence at 1.15 pm. It is expected that both set of young boys will give us the very best of hurling and asking everyone to get out early and cheer the Minors on.
The 1961 Wexford Intermediate Hurling team who brought back All-Ireland honours to ‘Wexford will be honoured at the interval of the senior game. Their All-Ireland win over London in the game played in Wexford Park will be re-lived many times on Sunday. We hope all the panel and their families have a wonderful afternoon in the Park.
