- Oulart-the-Ballagh 1-11
- Ballyhale Shamrocks 1-10
In a packed Wexford Park, boosted no doubt by the welcome free admission Oulart-the-Ballagh overcame the star studded Kilkenny Champions, Ballyhale Shamrocks by a single point. They bounced back from a nightmare start which saw them trailing by 0-0 to 1-03 after just 5 minutes – it looked ominous for Oulart.
When Colin Fennelly scored the Ballyhale goal, Oulart could have fallen away but to their immense credit they did not and they gradually found their feet clipping over some nice points to close the gap. When Garrett Sinnott hit the net, the full house crowd found their voice and it was game on.
By this stage, Shefflin had been forced off, and Ballyhale seriously struggled to cope without him in the second half. They hit just one more point in the game as Oulart-the-Ballagh powered back into the game.
After slowly chipping away with a few scores, Oulart finally pulled level when Nicky Kirwan struck over a 65, and then right at the end of normal time. But it was left to former Wexford minor star Eoin Moore to seal a famous victory when he was on the end of a pass and from all of 70 meters out, slotted the ball over the Ballyhale crossbar to put Oulart into the lead for the first time in the game. Rory Jacob had a great chance to stretch the lead to two but hit it wide, but no matter as on the puc out the referee – Barry Kelly, called for the ball, Oulart were into their third consecutive provincial final.
They will now progress to the Leinster SHC club final where they will play Kilcormac Killoughey of Offaly next Sunday in Nowlan Park.
