Oulart the Ballagh won their tenth title and fourth in a row with a 2-12 to 0-13 victory over Faythe Harriers today in Wexford Park.
Light rain fell from just before the start of the game and made the surface very slippy.
The sides were evenly balanced sharing 4 points in the first ten minutes before Oulart got things going with 4 unanswered points.
To Harriers credit they recovered and at half time trialled by 6 to 5. They then got the first score of the second half when star mid fielder Kevin Gore levelled things up.
Oulart’s response was clinical.
A long ball into the corner was won by Rory Jacob. He beat corner and full back with dazzling run along end line before blasting to the net to establish a never to be lost lead.
The Harriers kept battling and kept in touch mainly due to Kevin Gore who finished with 5 points from play an excellent return from a midfielder.
But Oulart were not to be out done. Rory Jacob once again fielded a long ball into the danger zone. He beat his marker and blasted for goal. Veteran Harriers goal keeper Archie Scallon was equal to it and pulled off a great save only for the rebound to be knocked back into the net.
Oulart now had a commanding lead. Harriers kept hurling but hit some costly wides.
They won a 20 metre free in the last moments. Jim Berry went for goal but the superb Keith Rossiter saved and cleared.
The final whistle sounded soon after with Oulart winning on a 2-12 to 0-13 scoreline.
Oulart Captain Keith Rossiter accepted the Bowe Cup for the second year in a row and to add to his joy he was presented with the Pettitts Man of The Match award.
