Wexford GAA are proud to announce the partnership of Anthony Neville Homes with our Model Academy program catering for players from U13 up to, and including, U17 in both hurling and football. This is the platform for both player and coach development with over 500 players and 80 coaches involved in the process. The extremely detailed and carefully planned program has received local and national praise in enabling dual players to develop, as well as giving a large amount of players, the tools to progress onto adult level at both club & inter-county.
The ground-breaking partnership with Anthony Neville Homes will enable the program to go from strength to strength as well as giving new focus on providing top quality standards across the board on a continuous basis. The Games Development Team, under the guidance of Games Development Manager Eoin Morrissey & Coaching Officer Bobby Goff, are keen to use this in the best interest of the coaches and players involved. “Its great to have to great work of our coaches and players recognised by such a high profile and local business” This will ensure we are able to provide players and coaches an even greater opportunity in providing the best standards right across the board”
Speaking at the development Managing Director Anthony Neville said: “We are delighted to help in looking after the future hurlers and footballers within the county we have a proud tradition and association with Wexford GAA and want to see it continue to thrive in the future, after all this is where it begins. We pride ourselves in being forward thinking as a business as well as customer focused. The same qualities are evident within the games development program for academies and it’s great to be now associated with them”.
The delivery of the academy program is tasks to the games development team and specifically Peter Hally & Shane O Hanlon. Speaking at the role of academies along the player pathway Games Manager Eoin Morrissey states “Academies have become an integral part of the pathway to elite performance for GAA players. Academies have nurtured and developed young talent throughout the recent past. However like all great ideas, the concept of academy squads has developed and changed throughout its existence. These academies have changed from being driven mainly by competition to their current existence of being driven by player development. We must remeber that it is not the only pathway and many player will develop at later stages we must always stay conscious of that”
